Overview

The Overview tab provides the connection details required to connect to your database service from the client application:

Connection details

  • Host — It provides the name assigned to your database service at the the time of provisioning it. The format of the name is <DNS name>.<Domain name>, where DNS name is the name assigned by you and Domain name is the name generated for you by Tessell. You can change the DNS name by using the edit button at the right side of the hostname. You can select the copy button next to the edit button to copy your hostname.

  • Connect to — Database

  • Database — It provides the name of the database to which you can connect using the service URL. Copy the database name using the copy button at the right side of the database name.

  • Username — It provides the name of the user through which you can connect to the database using the service URL. Copy the username using the copy button at the right side of the username.

  • Password — Set the password for the above user using this field. It also provides you the chance to reset the password incase you have forgot your password. Provide the new password in this field and click on the Reset button at the right side of the password field to change the password. By default the password is encrypted. To view the password click on eye button at the right side.

  • Port — It provides the port number for your database engine. Copy the port number using the copy button at the right side of the number.

  • Service URL — It provides the complete URL of your database service. Using this service URL connect your database service from the terminal. Copy the URL using the copy button at the right side. Each database service can have one or more then one instances. Each instance, database, and connection poolers are assigned different service URLS.

VM access for Tessell support — It provides you an option to enable/disable the Tessell support access to the VM. By default it is Disabled. The possible values are Enabled and Disabled. When you select the Enable option, an Approve VM access request? window pops up, asking for the confirmation to enable the VM access request. Once you enable this option, Tessell support can log into the service VM(s) to perform maintenance tasks as well as do debug operations. To disable this option, select the Revoke button on the right side.

Publicly accessible — It provides you an option to enable/disable the public access. By default, it is enabled. The possible values are Yes or No. Select the edit button at the right side to change the public access permissions. Once you disable the public access, only the added list of client IP addresses connection request are accepted. Select Update button to apply the changes.

Allowed IP addresses — It provides the list of client IP adrresses through which the connection request are accepted. To add or remove a client IP address, select the edit button at the right side. Update Connectivity window pop-ups, that allows to add or remove a client IP address. It also detects the current client IP address and gives an option to add just by clicking on + Add current client IP <address>, where address is the current client IP. After editing the list, select update button at the bottom of the window to apply the changes.

AWS private link — It provides an AWS private link to connect to your database service. Select edit buttom at the right side to add, remove or update the AWS private link. Create Private Link window pop-ups to create the private link. It also provide different formats of allowed ARN forms specific to the AWS account, IAM user and IAM role. Using this format, you can create the AWS private link as per your requirement. Click on save button to apply the changes.

Tags — It provides a key and value pair assigned for your database service. Each database service is assigned an unique tag at the time of provisioning.
